Arthritis affects over 50 million Americans and is the leading cause of disability. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease that affects joint cartilage and bones, causing pain and stiffness. It often affects hip, knee, and thumb joints.
In a 2017 study of OA and CBD, researchers found that the cannabinol is helpful in reducing inflammation and that it also had neuroprotective qualities. The subjects were also able to apply more weight after 14 days of use. Scientists believe that CBD attaches to the CB2 receptors in our bodies. The CB2 receptors are used in our immune system to manage pain and inflammation. Cannabinol is also likely to help produce our own natural cannabinoids. This is why many believe CBD also helps with pain management.
